The revolutionary wire drive system TBi PowerPull: Smaller, lighter, better were the prerequisites for this drive unit. The planetary head is the heart of the drive, and contains two precision rollers that are set at a fixed angle to the welding wire and circle around the wire. As a result, the contact between the rollers and the wire has a "line form" with a larger contact area as compared with the point contact of conventional 2- or 4-roll drives. In this way even very soft aluminium wires can be transported deformation-free in a cable with up to 25 m length without any intermediate drive.
